Matt Adams - Stress Management Coach

Treat your health like you treat your career... Show up every day.

When Matt Adams faced severe burnout, he made the courageous decision to resign from his job and prioritise self-care. For four long months, he endured a constant sense of death feeling, palpitations in his chest, and had to take a day off each week because he felt physically incapable of going to work, fearing that any effort might lead to dire consequences. Sleep eluded him, as he was plagued by a pervasive fear that he might never wake up.

This wasn't Matt's first encounter with burnout, but it was by far the most overwhelming. Prior to this breaking point, the warning signs had been subtle. "Stress creeps up on you," he shares with me. "I used to believe I was invincible and that stress equated weakness." From this challenging phase in his life, Matt gleaned a profound lesson – that anyone can fall victim to burnout.

Matt doesn’t hold back when he shares his journey because he hopes to inspire others not to let themselves reach the extremes he did.

Matt's recovery hinged on mastering a toolbox of techniques to manage stress. "It all comes down to the tools," he emphasises. During our online meeting, he wears protective glasses, shielding his eyes from the blue light of the screen, and explains that this is one of his chosen tools. His personal journey stands as a testament that a full recovery is possible.

Post-recovery, Matt transitioned into becoming a stress management coach. His firm belief? Education is the antidote to stress and burnout. He teaches others the same tools and techniques that pulled him out of the abyss.

People typically turn to Matt at the eleventh hour, unable to manage their stress any longer. He guides them through a 5-step method he personally developed, and remarkably, very few of his clients end up having to resign from their jobs. Instead, they learn how to regain control of their well-being without necessarily having to change their external circumstances.

This road symbolises the hard way to becoming resilient against stress and burnout. Matt Adams says there is an easier way that involves education.
